Exporter of the Year 2022

The entry form for the prestigious Exporter of the Year Awards 2022 is now available to download below. Closing date for entries is 8 July 2022.

Judging Process:

Judging all entries is a thorough and robust task. Judging criteria includes qualitative and quantitative data, which are thoroughly assessed by an independent panel of judges.
Please refer to the judging criteria scorecard when completing your entry form, as this should guide you in the amount of information required in each area of the entry form.
The judges scoring on the quantitative information will be performed in terms of a matrix, to ensure consistent scoring for these factors from all the judges.
The judges will therefore spend more time on the qualitative factors on the scorecard. For this reason the scorecard has been updated for the qualitative factors and the entry from has been updated to align with the new scorecard.

Exporter of the Year Categories:

Emerging Exporter Award (Companies that have been exporting for three years or less)
IDC Job Creation Award (Exporters who have created the most number of new sustainable jobs within their business in the last financial year)
SJM Flex Environmental Practice Award (Exporters, other than manufacturers of original equipment for the automotive industry, and who pursue activities towards Environmental Sustainability)
SJM Flex Environmental Award (Exporters who are manufacturers of original equipment for the automotive industry and who have environmental accreditation and who pursue excellence in environmental management)
Best Provider of Services to Exporters (All service providers to the export industry)
Best Exporter: Small Business (Exporters with direct and indirect export turnover below R25-million)
Best Exporter: Medium Enterprises (Exporters with direct and indirect export turnover between R25-million and R200-million)
Best Exporter: Corporate Category (Exporters with direct and indirect export turnover greater than R200-million)
Best Exporter: OEM (Exporters who are manufacturers or original equipment for the automotive industry)
Exporter of the Year 2022 (The entity which, in the judges’ opinion, achieved the most success in the period under review.)

Exporter of the Year 2021

In its 26th year, the Exporter of the Year Awards is hosted annually to acknowledge the achievements of Eastern Cape exporters and service providers in the province. The Awards ceremony was hosted online on Friday, 20 August 2021 with an interactive live event, which was presented by MC Gareth Burley.

Creating hundreds of new jobs, increasing market share, profits and growing export turnover. These are just some of the successes Exporters Eastern Cape’s Exporter of the Year 2021 winners achieved over the past year.

Entertainment for the evening included Franky and the Misfits, Letters from Jane and Roland Gaspar. LX Events assisted with organising the online event and Oracle Media provided all the artwork designs and organised the online event platform. Michael Sheehan is the photographer for this year’s Exporter of the Year.

A highlight of the evening was the announcement of the prestigious Overall Winner of the Exporter of the Year 2021, Acoustex Group, a Gqeberha-based manufacturer of automotive components exported to 12 countries around the world.

Exporter of the Year 2020

In its 25th year, the Exporter of the Year Awards is hosted annually to acknowledge the achievements of Eastern Cape exporters and service providers in the province. The 2020 awards event was a special milestone for the organisation, who is celebrating 40 years of existence in Port Elizabeth.

It was also the first year that the Exporter of the Year Awards was hosted online with an interactive live event, which was presented by MC Gareth Burley. Entertainment for the evening included the Nelson Mandela Bay Musicians Collaboration, magician Brendon Peel and comedian Marc Lottering.
